PBC Messenger, Week of October 13, 2019

On October 13 at 11:00 AM we will hear from our own Dr. Steven Porter, Coordinator of Global Missions for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He will be preaching from John 10 and helping us connect the ways we can be on mission here at PBC and around the world through the gifts and strengths God has given us.

So far we have raised $1,700 toward our $4000 2019 Missions goal. You can participate by designating gifts to ‘Missions Giving,’ by giving online through our portal at, and even by texting an amount to 84321. One of our mission partners is Sasha and Mira Zivanov, CBF field personnel working with immigrants and refugees in St. Louis, Missouri. We recently received a newsletter from them. Read it HERE.

On Sunday we have Christian Education for all ages at 9:45 AM, including a Youth class and Godly Play for children; Worship begins at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary. Pastries, snacks, coffee, tea and juice are also available before and after classes.

It was a BEAUTIFUL time of fellowship as we shared a meal and good conversation around tables prepared with care and love. A special thanks to our Worship and Hospitality Ministry Team for their good work and thanks to all of you for bringing the delicious food! Our next church-wide fellowship event will be on Sunday, November 17 for our Thanksgiving meal. Look for details in a couple of weeks.

This past session, we took a short field trip to our cemetery to look at the gravestones as well as the inscriptions on them. We discovered that while many Christians believe they are abandoning this world in death to some other place, we learned more God's plan for Christ to return and restore this earth and about what Christ's resurrection means for our future and the future of this world. Christ's resurrection changes the way we think life after death, but also about life AFTER life after death! Join us on this journey of discovery. This course is based on N.T. Wright’s book Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection and the Mission of the Church. There is no charge and session three will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:00 PM in the Parlor. Childcare provided!
We recently received a lovely and full newsletter from Sasha and Mira Zivanov, field personnel with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship working with the immigrant and refugee population in St. Louis, Missouri. We are grateful to be an encouraging partner in their ministry! Read the newsletter HERE.
